  • About Symmetry and Minimalism
  •

Changes to Default UI:

General:
-Moves XP bar to the top.
-Removes border around Combo Sequence window.
-Changes color of Player enemies to slightly different color. (Untested)
-Removes Friend List button, and Help Menu. Removal of other two buttons will come when they are keybindable.
-Removes Character/Inventory, Skills & Attributes, Feats, Quest Journal buttons (TOP CENTER BUTTONS). Check the Controls to find out their bindings if you've not learned them.
-Re-positions the Inventory/Feats/Skills and Attri/Quest boxes to lower on the screen.
-Removes Artwork on them as well.
-Made Inventory icons smaller. Unable to work with background because it is tied to the other panel backgrounds. Trying to find a workaround.
Removed some borders on chatframes, but the files for it currently are not very moddable and it's still very much a work in progress.

Bottom Action Bars:
-Adds buttons to default layout.
-Removes FPS/Lag Indicator.
-Made Hotbar buttons smaller.

Mini/Map:
Reskinned Minimap.
Removed Zoom buttons on Minimap.
Removed Zoom buttons on RegionMap
Removed Border on RegionMap

Portraits:
Reskinned Player Portrait
Reskinned Target Portrait
Reskinned Group Portraits
Reskinned TOT Portrait

Installation of S & M:

First, do you know how to to install a Custom UI? S&M has a Customized and Default folder to merge (do not delete the old!)

If that above statement confused you, let's break it down for the beginner.

1. Find your AOC folder. [C:/Program Files/Funcom/Age of Conan/
2. Navigate into the folder that holds the Customized folder. This is in [C:/Program Files/Funcom/Age of Conan/cd_image/Gui/]
3. Drag and Drop the folders [Customized] and [Default] in the file you downloaded to the /Gui/ folder.
4. Answer any pop-up with Overwrite/Merge with Yes.
4. Launch game!

Please, please note that if you DELETE the old folders you will be forced to patch and re-download over 900mb of data back into your Default folder- So be SURE of what you are doing.

Tips!:

1. Use interface settings to gain more minimalism.
2. You can hide the Minimap, Clock, and other elements via the Options. Don't ask me to remove them unless they can't already be removed otherwise!
3. Give feedback! I use it to shape the next release and helps to get differing opinions on what should and shouldn't be (re)moved.
4. Tested on a Widescreen at 1680x1050, let me know of display issues please.

Known Issues:
-Screens for Quest, Attributes, Inventory not perfect yet.
-No reskin on Team Frame.
-Minimap not fully right justified.
-You can't use the second Extra hotbar built into AOC, the bottom row uses these buttons.
-If you use the TripleBar patch you will not be able to use either.

I like it so far. Inventory & co are a little too transparent though, for my liking.
What files would I have to edit to get the enemy name back on top of the health bars?
    Thanks, enjoy the game!

    Thanks, will test soon.
    Things I've noticed:
    * when disabling the minimap in the interface options, the clock is partly offscreen (1680x1050)
    * when targeting a boss mob, the background texture will be in front of the health bars untill damaged
    * Health/Mana/Stamina bar colors are much too light and sorta hard to distinguish from the background.
    * When resizing the region map to a very small size and closing the world map, the part of the world map sticking out behind the region map will be larger than the region map's height.

    Cool otherwise ;) Thanks

    Hi again!
    Some more feedback:
    * Upon starting a new Char, putting Spells/Combos in the Actionbar slot with the E Keybinding doesn't work. I mean, it does work putting them in the slot, but pressing E does nothing. Edit: The E keybinding is a somewhat serious issue. I just leveled my templar to 40 and got the new directional attacks. The E key always performs a lower right attack, even if the icon for it isn't in the action bar. No matter what you put in the E action bar slot, you will always do a lower right attack. Tried changing keybindings but with no sucess. Might be caused by the bar being 13 slots total with the game only having 12 keybindings available.
    * A (small) indicator at the right portrait would be good that tells you if the targeted mob is elite or not.
    * The black (unrested) XP bar is rather akward looking, the blue one is great though.

Also, I've looked at the Double Vision screenshot on your website. What I noticed is that you use the round minimap in the middle of the square actionbars. A better approach would be to scrap the minimap entirely and use the regionmap instead. It is square, customizable and easier to handle. The world map can be closed independantly and doesn't have to be on the screen. A square map fits much better in between the bars.
    Cheers!

Hi, the transparency is mainly in MainSplitView.xml (I think it's called that) and with some minor changes to InventoryView and a couple other files. Good luck in merging! Let me know if you still run into problems. I wasn't using all of those folders for that reason in v1.11, should be more clear in v1.15.

I tried installing just thwe SocialGUI, SpellGUI, MapGUI, Chat, ComboSequ;jfd;f, QuestJournal.. yada yada, to get the transparent look, but it doesn't work.

I am trying to use it with Darg UI.

IRID1UM thanks for all the feedback. Made a lot of changes from your comments and wish others would as well!

Brightened the unit frames, added small letters to designate the rank of the mob.

I think I fixed the keybinding issues entirely, it's something to do with not using the full length. Odd, anyway everyone can still just remove their spells from the first and last button and they will be essentially invisible for those who'd rather not have them. But still, 2 more buttons for those who do I guess.

The black XP bar was fixed (I'm pretty sure)

Edit: Fixed the new character thing, the Q and E work GREAT for spells now and I tested this on a new character.

The Worldmaps button on the regionmap was mostly fixed, now it just shows large when hovering. Not sure how to fix it just yet, but soon!

Clock still goes off screen. May just have to be disabled for now, looking for some kind of fix that allows it to work.

    Thanks again for the feedback.

    Hi!
Thanks for reading through my posts and actually working at the things I pointed out.

Since the Health/Mana/Stamina bars still aren't what I'd like, I figured I'd just manually change them, which gave me the idea of replacing them completely by a different graphic. Problem so far: the graphic is much larger than the normal bar (namely 183x53) and it doesnt really fit or overlaps the mana bar. Got a link or quick tutorial of what I'd have to change in the code?
    Thanks & cheers

This is an issue I'm working on fixing for the next release.

If you want, you can go into the BottomBar.xml file inside of Customized/Views/HUD/ and search (Ctrl+F in windows) for
    <SoulFragmentBar />
the line directly above that, replace it with
    <View view_layout="stacked" layout_borders="Rect(0,0,0,15)">

I can't test that right now, but it should help with your issue. Let me know how it works.

First off, I like the UI alot but I'm not sure if it's me or not, but I'm running 1680x1050 res, and I was playing my Demonologist after installing your UI, and noticed after summoning my succy the little pet bar was half underneath my stam/hp bar. Is there a way of moving the pet bar at all? Otherwise, everything else seems to be working good.

I deleted Mirage UI's files before installing, there are a couple of things I would like about Mirage to stay though, like the guild list improvements.

If you isolated the files relating to what features you want and left them, it might be fine, I haven't tried both at once though.
I'd try asking over at Mirage UI's page which files relate to what and if it's possible to have some features without the rest of the mod.

  • Does this work with the Mirage UI or will there be problems trying to use them both

    Hi, I've got a little problem :(
It's the layout of the side panels like Inventory, Character, Feats etc.
I run the game at 1400x900 (windowed) and the bottom inch or so of these panels goes over the top of the chatbox on either side. With the transperancy and background from the panels taken away it makes it very difficult to see things like my money etc. that are on the bottom of the pages.

Is there a way to change the spacing to have less of a gap at the top so they're just raised up?

Screenshot of the inventory panels open: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h129/Varchld/Varchld_picture023.png[/url
