WerikUI

WerikUI is the first Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures Graphical User Interface (GUI) modification.

This mod tries to appeal to those who prefer the cleared out, minimalistic but at the same time informative GUI over visually richer interfaces which take up more screen space.

Installation Guideline

  1) Make a backup copy of your <Age of Conan>\cd_image\Gui\Customized\
folder if you are using other modifications.
     They might be incompatible.
  2) Unpack the downloaded file in a temporary directory.
  3) From the above temporary directory, copy the whole cd_image folder into
     your Age of Conan directory.

Directory Tree

<Age Of Conan Installation Directory>
|_cd_image
  |_Gui
    |_Customized
    | |_Views
    | |_HUD
    |
    |_Default
      |_gfx
        |_PortraitGUI
      |_portraitsbottom

Revision Number changes (Out of Date Issues)

Every time Funcom patches the game client the revision number increases. This can cause that the modifications will be outdated and won't load anymore. In this case you should get a warning during the launch of the game.

You can update the revision numbers yourself, though I'd not recommend it. If the revision number of a file changes, there is a big chance that file was modified. If you update the old file's revision number, you might loose new features which were introduced by the new patch.

Knowing this if you want to update your files, you must replace the revision number inside the XML files. The XML files are always in cd_image\Gui\Customized\ .

Look for the the line:

<!-- $Change: '''XXXXX''' $ (must be within the first 200 characters of the file) -->

where, XXXXX is the revision number. It is usually the second line of the file.

To find out what the correct revision number is, you have to check the exact same file inside cd_image\Gui\Default\. These are the default Age of Conan GUI layout files.

Example:

Lets say you want to change the revision number of your customized BottomBar.xml because at loading time the game tells you that it's out of date.

In this case, you go to cd_image\Gui\Default\Views\HUD, open BottomBar.xml, and look at the second line. The revision number is the number you can find between $Change: and the next $ sign.

Now you go to cd_image\Gui\Customized\Views\HUD\, open BottomBar.xml, find the second line again, and replace the number with the new revision number. Save the file and you are good to go!

Yeah this is nice, A really great mod thanks. Id love the buttons to be a bit bigger though , 1920x1200 they are just a bit small for me. Any tips on how to make em bigger?

    Thanks again

Love how you can see your secondary bar with this.

I have 1 problem with it tho.

On the Target of Target, it overlaps the icon and looks like the default bar.

Other then that it looks great.

The reason for this is that the game simply doesn't seem to load textures from the Customized folder.

The updater restores every file inside the Default folder which is part of the game client. My files are prefixed by 'werik_' and therefore not part of the original client files ;)

Any special reason why you have chosen:
    <Age Of Conan Installation Directory>
    |_cd_image
    |_Gui
    |_Customized
    | |_Views
    | |_HUD
    |
    |_Default
    |_gfx
    |_PortraitGUI
    |_portraitsbottom

    Over:
    <Age Of Conan Installation Directory>
    |_cd_image
    |_Gui
    |_Customized
    | |_Views
    | |_HUD
    |_gfx
    |_PortraitGUI
    |_portraitsbottom

Or does the customization not override images only xml?
I haven't started looking into this yet, I used to make custom UIs in EverQuest back in the days so know how those work and this should be fairly similar I'd think.

Anyhow it's looking good so far, I'll have a look at it later tonight in-game see what how I like it in play. Have you noticed if it is possible to make the hotbars in different columns/rows, so one of the 4 can be like a 3x3 box for example?

definetely great job and in a short time :) thanx

    questions:
    1) Any chance we control the Combat text?
    2) Is it possible to Scale the UI on our own?
    3) Is it possible to move the box where Debuffs are shown?

Moving Combat Text and UI Scaling doesn't seem to be possible. Same for unlucking those elements what aren't unlockable by default.

Debuffs could be moved yea, where would you like to move it?:-)
