To Cast or Slash?

Hello everyone. I have decided to try a caster in AOC but I'm not sure if I'm going to make it my main character since the melee system sounds so interesting. I will be playing at least 1 of both types but I will focus a lot more on one of them.

What are you all going to be and what are you planning for your character?

Well truth be told I'm having trouble trying to pin down my favorite class. It seems that every couple of weeks my master plan alters somewhat.

As of this minute, my first character in AoC is going to be a Guardian(polearm/Aquilonian). It just seems straight forward(forgive the pun). It should let me get a decent feel for the game and I'll become more adventerous in my class choices, as I go along.

Ultimately, I want to be in Hyboria long enough to level cap my 8 possible characters and make, atleast, one female toon.

Anyhow, I think a Bear Shaman or Ranger would be next on my list and I'd leave the last spot for my caster. Again, I'm not even certain that this plan will stay, as is, before launch or long after it. :)

I am also not sure of what should I do. Havin' participated in the PVP beta weekend , I tested each class, and each seemed unique ,special and moreover fun to play. All classes require high involvement: healers need to manage the heal-cone while fending off foes, mages need to usually stay away and control their damage ,rooting when necessary (apart from knockdowns and bugged roots there are no stuns in this game) , rogues usually get up close with stealth and wack away , rangers dash out the damage from afar ,but seem to hold their own from ranged. Tanks require lots of management ,as you need to decide when to active block ,when to conserve stamina etc.
All in all I am very undecided ,but whatever i will choose I'm sure it will be a fun choice :)

I haven't been able to play yet, but going off of the videos I think that my main character is going to be a bear shaman. I really like the idea of trying to maintain buffs and heals while still actually being able to hold my own in hand to hand combat. I can just see myself now in my full animal skin clothes with a huge hammer mauling my enemies while healing my group =D

As cliche as it sounds, I am probably going to be trying out the barbarian and Assassin as soon as I get a chance to play. I usually play tanks in MMO's but I think I'm going to change it up a bit and go for the more damage based classes. Who knows though I may find my self playing a guardian?

Barbarian. Mainly because they can knock people around, stun, sneak and climb. Sneak and climb? Yeah, I want to be an explorer as well. Assassin and ranger just seem too delicate to me. Yes, I am sure that with enough skill and forethought that assassins would be better, but I want to be able to push people around and hit as many people at once as I can. Like a rogue with a claymore.
